Big Night in Borneo!

Last month we were fortunate once again to be chosen to assist Solterbeck Travel Incentives with one of their valued clients – Indola. In addition to overseeing the audio-visual production, our brief was to create an exciting Chinese gambling den for the grand finale in the ballroom of the Sheraton Rasa Ria Resort – Kota Kinabalu.

Other than our sensational Asian stage backdrop, several Chinese banners and a selection of gaming tables, all theme materials, lighting, sound & backline was provided by local suppliers. The local people were a pleasure to work with and – once they realised what we were trying to achieve – the whole event ran as smooth as silk.

All the guests & staff dressed Chinese style. The gambling was fast and furious. The food sensational and – after a spirited auction session – the dance floor was packed until the early hours!

A personal highlight of the event was the conference presentation of Oscar award winning film maker Adam Elliot – arranged by STI. Adam has a passion for human observation and his now famous animated character “Harvie Krumpet” reflects this. Adam’s presentation was both informative and humorous and he had the delegates in fits of laughter.

The weather was kind, the locale sensational and –thanks to STI director Heather Dean & program manager Tonia Facy – it was a memorable conference!

Looking at..."The Accidents"

The Accidents are hardly “new kids on the block”. They have a strong following in the clubs and pubs around Queensland & Northern NSW.
They are however new to the corporate world but their experience and professionalism have made it an easy transition.

It’s a good mix. Two gorgeous girl vocalists, a hot guitar player who can sing up a storm and a drummer/front man with a zany sense of humour mix it with keyboards and three horns. An eight piece power house with a huge range of songs to keep everyone happy and the dance floor packed.
Scott Whatman, the guitarist runs a recording studio on the Gold Coast whilst his partner in crime - drummer Warren Bray - has an international jingle company. Their studio experience shows through with tight sound and full harmonies.

Kerry Dudderidge sings and looks sensational and moved from Albury specifically to join the Accidents (and Warren – they marry later this month!). Michelle Preston – infamous for her MovieWorld “Marilyn Munroe” shows – perfectly complements Kerry. You can tell they are enjoying themselves and this radiates to the audience.

As their publicity says - After walking the length of India Gandhi said “Gee my feet hurt” and so will yours, the morning after an evening with the Accidents!
